Choosing a sponsor

Every NEXA loan officer gets the same platform. You are choosing the person.

NEXA corporate gives every loan officer the same compensation plan, the same lender panel and the same technology. That part does not vary. What varies is the sponsor you join under - and that is the decision that actually shapes your first year.

Short answer

NEXA's compensation, lender panel and technology are corporate and identical for everyone. What differs by sponsor is who answers your first file, whether you get live support and marketing help, what the sponsor covers in onboarding cost, and how fast they respond. Choose the sponsor deliberately - compare at least three, and ask the twelve questions below before you sign.

What does not vary

What every NEXA loan officer gets.

These come from corporate. They are the same whether you join under me or anyone else, and no sponsor can add to or subtract from them.

  • The compensation plan. NEXA Unlimited, NEXA 100 and the broker panel are set by NEXA Mortgage, LLC.
  • The lender panel. 321 lenders and 7,000+ products, including the nine NEXA Unlimited providers.
  • Daily payroll. Twice daily as loans fund, within 24 to 48 hours of closing.
  • The platform. The LOS, pricing engine, CRM and Bevri AI tools.
  • Loan officer support. NEXA's live Zoom support desk with account executives and scenario coaches.
  • Revenue share. 10 bps, three levels deep, capped at $3,000 per producing loan officer per month.
  • Servicing income. Roughly $25 to $30 per loan per month through eVOLend.

If a sponsor tells you they are giving you something corporate does not offer, ask them to show you where it comes from. Usually it means they are personally funding it - which is real, but it is theirs to give and theirs to withdraw.

What does vary

What actually changes by sponsor.

Who answers your first file

Corporate support exists. But when your first file hits a snag at 7pm on a Friday, does your sponsor pick up, or do you go into a queue?

Whether you get live training

Self-paced video is not training. Ask whether there is a live person who walks your first three files with you.

What the sponsor covers

Some sponsors absorb your onboarding costs and marketing stack. Some do not. This is the single largest dollar difference between sponsors.

Marketing help

A marketing asset library is corporate. Whether someone builds your actual pipeline with you is not.

Branch-building support

If you want to build a team, some sponsors have done it at scale and can show you their playbook. Others have not.

Response-time commitments

Ask for a number. "I'm always available" is not a commitment. "Same day, business hours, my cell" is.

The list

Twelve questions to ask every sponsor.

Ask these of me too. I have answered them on my sponsor page, so you can hold my answers against anyone else's.

  • 1. What is your production today, and how many loan officers do you sponsor?
  • 2. Who answers my call on my first file - you, a staff member, or corporate?
  • 3. What will you personally cover in my onboarding cost, and for how long?
  • 4. Will you build my marketing pipeline with me, or hand me an asset library?
  • 5. What is your response-time commitment, in writing?
  • 6. How do you get paid when I join you? Be specific.
  • 7. Have you built a branch or a team yourself? Show me the numbers.
  • 8. What do you train on - the platform, or how to originate?
  • 9. Who mentors me if I am new, and what does that cost me?
  • 10. What happens if we are not a fit? Can I move sponsors without leaving NEXA?
  • 11. Will you introduce me to two loan officers you sponsor who will take my call?
  • 12. What are you not good at?

Question 6 and question 12 tell you the most. A sponsor who cannot answer either clearly is telling you something.

A note on incentives

How to read a sponsor's pitch.

Sponsors earn revenue share on your funded production. That is not a flaw - it is the model, and it is disclosed everywhere. But it means every sponsor has a financial interest in you joining, including me. So judge them on what they commit to, not on what they promise.

The test: does the sponsor's pitch survive contact with specifics? Dollar amounts, response times, names of loan officers you can call. Promises that cannot be made specific usually should not be believed.

Disclosure: I am a NEXA Executive Partner and I earn revenue share when loan officers I sponsor fund loans. I benefit if you join through me. Read this page with that in mind, and compare me to at least two other sponsors before you decide.

Compare me against the others.

Talk to at least three sponsors. If I am not the best answer for your situation, I will tell you.
